S.W.A.T. Exiles Star Shemar Moore's First Comedic Role Was On A Hit '90s Sitcom
Some actors shy away from comedy, but Shemar Moore, star of the new Starz spin-off "S.W.A.T. Exiles," cut his teeth on it early in his career. In 1995, he had a guest spot on the iconic '90s sitcom "Living Single," which centered on the hijinks of a group of friends and roommates in Brooklyn. Moore played Jon Marc in the aptly titled Season 2 episode "The Last Temptation."
A super attractive classmate of Synclaire's (Kim Coles), Jon Marc shows up to study at her apartment, but things go off the rails after Synclaire's friend Maxine (Erika Alexander) swoops in, jokingly pretending to be her. Although his entrance is played to laughs, the most interesting part happens when Jon Marc kisses Synclaire during their study session. While she briefly participates, she then remembers that she has a boyfriend and hilariously scrambles to fetch Jon Marc's belongings and push him out the door. You can watch the clip on YouTube.
Moore's appearance put him in the ranks of other notable guest stars that appeared on "Living Single," including Rosie O'Donnell, Morris Chestnut, and Giancarlo Esposito.
Kim Coles says she was Shemar Moore's first TV kiss
"Living Single" wasn't just the first role that allowed Shemar Moore to flex his comedy chops. It was also the first role that required a kissing scene. Kim Coles made the admission during an episode of the "ReLiving Single" podcast. While speaking with co-host and "Living Single" alum Erika Alexander, Coles said, "Shemar Moore had been on soap operas for years, and he said, 'Actually, I've never kissed before. You'd be my first onscreen kiss.'"
Although Moore's "Living Single" episode aired more than 30 years ago, it remains a favorite among fans, who regularly discuss it across social media. Fans on IMDb have rated it a solid 8.1/10. Meanwhile, reposts of Moore's scene have racked up a variety of spirited comments from viewers. "I love how the ladies in the audience screamed when she opened the door and Shemar was standing there," wrote one fan on YouTube. Another commented, "My fave episode. So many funny scenes in this one."
As far as sitcoms go, "Living Single" wasn't Moore's only project. His most notable include "The Nanny," "The Jamie Foxx Show," "Moesha," and "Malcolm & Eddie."
