Casting News: Netflix's Icebreaker Casts Stassie And Nate, Grey's Adds 3, And More

Netflix's "Icebreaker" adaptation has landed its two leads.

Daisy Jelley ("Geek Girl") and Connor Simos ("Subversion") have signed on to star in the upcoming hockey-themed YA drama, the streamer has announced. She'll play ice skater Anastasia "Stassie" Allen, and he'll play hockey player Nate Hawkins.

"She's the transfer gunning for Olympic gold" and "he's the campus star chasing the NHL," according to the official logline. "But when an accident forces their teams to share one rink, Anastasia Allen and Nate Hawkins collide — and discipline gives way to obsession, because the only thing more dangerous than wanting to win is wanting each other."

Amanda Lasher ("Gossip Girl," "Riverdale") will serve as showrunner, with Jade Halley Bartlett joining her as creator and executive producer of the series, which is based on the bestselling novel by Amanda Grace. Netflix handed the adaptation a series order in June. (Grace will be an executive producer as well.) 

• "Grey's Anatomy" has added Sarah Levy ("Schitt's Creek") to its cast for the upcoming Season 23 (premiering Thursday, October 15 at 10 p.m. on ABC), production company Shondaland has announced. She'll play Corrie Witty, described as "a bit of an oddball who's expecting her second child after a traumatic birth experience with her first." Plus, the show has added Martin Martinez ("Magnum P.I.") as Charlie, who has "some emotional armor" due to his "tough upbringing," and Trevor Tordjman ("Bunk'd") as Thomas, who's at the hospital "to monitor the well-being of his brother's girlfriend."
• "Scrubs" is expected to welcome back Johnny Kastl, who recurred on the original series as Dr. Doug Murphy, in Season 2 of the ABC revival, per Deadline.
• Hugh Laurie has joined the cast of the HBO limited series "The Trial of Louise Woodward," Deadline reports. He'll play Judge Hiller B. Zobel, of the Massachusetts Superior Court, who presided over the murder trial.
• Prime Video's comic book adaptation "Stillwater" has cast Ben Hardy ("The Girl Before") in the lead role of Daniel West, according to Deadline. The horror thriller follows an ex-con who travels to the town of Stillwater and "discovers a community where nothing ever ages, no one ever dies, and nobody ever gets out."
