Thunder buddies Ted and John are returning to Peacock — this time in animated form.

"Ted: The Animated Series," a sequel to Seth MacFarlane's "Ted" and "Ted 2" films, will premiere Thursday, December 17, with eight episodes, the streamer announced Wednesday. Additional episodes will follow in 2027.

Set 12 years after the second movie, the adult animated comedy reunites MacFarlane (as Ted) with big-screen castmates Mark Wahlberg (as John), Amanda Seyfried (as Sam), and Jessica Barth (as Tami-Lynn). Per the official logline, "John and his thunder-buddy Ted are neighbors, both with families of their own and dead-end jobs. Follow these two lovable stoners as they enable each other's bad ideas about marriage, parenting, and the challenges of adult life." Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman also join the voice cast as Apollo and Ruth, respectively.

The animated sequel arrives nine months after the release of "Ted" Season 2. Though Peacock has yet to formally announce that the live-action prequel has ended, the finale's closing narration essentially directed viewers to watch (or rewatch) the "Ted" movies to see what happens next, suggesting that the '90s-set series had told all the stories it intended to tell.

  • Prime Video's "Barbershop" sequel series will premiere all eight episodes Wednesday, February 10. Per the official logline, "Travis 'Trav' Walker (Jermaine Fowler) returns to Chicago hoping to honor his grandfather's legacy at the iconic Calvin's barbershop, but the shop has changed, and so has the city. As Trav struggles to find his place among a new crew of barbers and loyal customers, Calvin's remains what it's always been, a place for sharp fades, sharp opinions, and a community that always has something to say." Brett Gray, Punkie Johnson, Roy Wood Jr., E.J. Bonilla, Bresha Webb, Bokeem Woodbine, Tiana Okoye, and Langston Kerman co-star. Guest stars include Zack Fox, Ego Nwodim, Diallo Riddle, Ziwe, Tituss Burgess, Comedian CP, Devon Walker, and Belmont Cameli.
  • Netflix has released the trailer for "Love Is Blind" Season 11, set in Boston and premiering Wednesday, October 14, with five episodes. Three more episodes will follow October 21, another three on October 28, and the finale on November 4.

  • Apple TV has released a trailer for "Nocturne," a new serial-killer drama starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham. The 10-episode thriller premieres with two episodes on October 30, followed by one new episode every Friday through December 25.

  • The seventh and final season of "Miss Scarlet," consisting of six episodes, will premiere Sunday, January 17, on PBS, following an early release Sunday, November 29, on the PBS app and PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video. Here's a first-look photo:
