ABC Sets 2027 Midseason Schedule: High Potential, Will Trent, And More Return Dates Revealed

ABC has unveiled its 2027 midseason schedule, confirming premiere dates for returning favorites "High Potential," "Shifting Gears," and "Will Trent."

As previously reported, "The Rookie" returns for Season 9 on Wednesday, January 6, at 9/8c, followed by the series premiere of Jay Ellis-led spin-off "The Rookie: North" at 10 p.m. Meanwhile, "High Potential" returns for Season 3 on Tuesday, January 5, ahead of a special episode airing in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot on Sunday, February 14.

Also on tap for midseason: "Shifting Gears" Season 3, which kicks off with a "2 Broke Girls" reunion between Kat Dennings and guest star Beth Behrs (and takes over the Wednesday time slot vacated by "Scrubs," which wraps its 10-episode second season in December); and Season 5 of "Will Trent," which introduces Alexandra Metz ("The Pitt") as new GBI deputy director Birdie Palmer.

In other news, "Shark Tank" is on the move once again. The long-running reality show will swim over to Mondays after "American Idol," beginning February 8. ABC has also confirmed that its untitled "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off is on track to premiere during the 2027–2028 TV season.
