NCIS: New York Trailer: LL COOL J's Sam Hanna Meets His New Partner And New Team — Watch

"NCIS" franchise veteran Sam Hanna might be able to save the world — but he can't do it alone.

CBS has released the full trailer for the new spin-off "NCIS: New York," with LL COOL J reprising his "NCIS: Los Angeles" role as special agent Sam Hanna. And in the trailer (which you can watch above), Sam meets his new partner: Nick Schaeffer, played by "Hawaii Five-0" alum Scott Caan. The two of them have crackling banter right from the start: When Nick hesitates to jump down into a dark hole, Sam offers: "I'll put you in a BabyBjörn. Make you feel better?" 

Sam meets a new team of fresh-faced recruits as well, including tech whiz Sean, who marvels at the sight of Sam: "You are a very large man." The team also includes a big, slobbering dog, but Sam keeps his distance, telling the pooch: "I'm allergic to you, but good morning." Sam's here to work, though, and we see him and his team busting down doors and firing guns at suspects as Sam vows to a mother: "I'm not gonna stop until I find out what happened, I promise you." (Putting the Beastie Boys' "So What'cha Want" on the soundtrack is a nice touch, too.)   

"NCIS: New York" was first announced in April and debuts Tuesday, October 6 at 9 p.m. on CBS, airing between the original "NCIS" at 8 p.m. and prequel "NCIS: Origins" at 10 p.m. (Check out our full calendar of fall TV premiere dates here.) The official series description reads: "Legendary NCIS Agent Sam Hanna returns to his hometown of New York City to their field office, partnering with a roguish agent and helping lead a new team as they are tasked with high-stakes missions to defend one of the most vital cities and ports in the world."

Joining LL COOL J and Scott Caan in the cast are Jennifer Beals ("The L Word") as Sam and Nick's superior Robyn Wells, Jacqueline Byers ("Dark Winds") as special agent Addy Ross, Shane Harper ("Power Book IV: Force") as special agent Wyatt Sellers, and Devin Druid ("13 Reasons Why") as tech whiz Sean Sullivan. R. Scott Gemmill, who just won another Emmy as showrunner of HBO Max's "The Pitt," returns to his "NCIS" roots here — he was also a showrunner on "NCIS: Los Angeles" — as an executive producer.
