9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 Trailer Brings Biblical Plagues (And Ryan Phillippe!) To Music City — Watch

Music City is facing a crisis of apocalyptic proportions in the official trailer for "9-1-1: Nashville" Season 2.

"We have this mysterious criminal, and his M.O. is that he's going to unleash the Biblical plagues on Nashville, a city he thinks needs to be punished for the way it's changed in the last 15 years," showrunner Rashad Raisani tells TVLine. "Our first responders don't know that these are manmade, they think these terrible things are just happening."

The 113 gets a much-needed assist from new character Detective Rogue (played by Ryan Philippe), who "starts to sense that there's some kind of method to this," Raisani says. "Somebody had to have done some of these things that seemed like terrible accidents, and lo and behold, he turns out to be right." Watch the trailer below:

"9-1-1: Nashville" stars Chris O'Donnell as Captain Don Hart, Jessica Capshaw as Don's wife Blythe Hart, Kimberly Williams-Paisley as dispatcher Cammie Raleigh, LeAnn Rimes as Don's ex Dixie Bennings, Michael Provost as Don and Blythe's son Ryan Hart, Juani Feliz as firefighter Roxie Alba, Hailey Kilgore as firefighter Taylor Thompson, and Hunter McVey as Don and Dixie's son Blue Bennings.

It's also worth noting that "9-1-1: Nashville" finally broke the franchise's infamous casting curse. Both "9-1-1" and "9-1-1: Lone Star" lost a major series regular after their first seasons — Connie Britton and Liv Tyler, respectively — but the entire "9-1-1: Nashville" cast is returning for its sophomore outing.

The "9-1-1" spin-off returns for Season 2 on Thursday, October 15 at 9/8c, sandwiched between the Season 10 premiere of "9-1-1" and the Season 23 premiere of "Grey's Anatomy."

How did 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 end?

"9-1-1: Nashville" ended its first season with a clash of the titans, specifically Blythe and Dixie, who were literally at each other's throats when the finale smashed to black. Their feud escalated when Dixie released a series of diss tracks about Blythe's checkered past, offering to stop if Don agreed to spend one night with her. Blythe was already a woman on the verge, so when Dixie showed her a text from Don agreeing to her deal, Blythe absolutely lost it. Simply buying out Dixie's contract and gaining control over career wasn't enough for Blythe — this had to be settled physically.

In other Hart family developments, Ryan and his wife Sam received some difficult news in the finale. A potentially cancerous mass was found on one of her ovaries, and she was told that surgery could complicate her pregnancy, or even prevent her from having future babies. Sam decided to wait until the baby is born to treat herself, and Ryan agreed to stand by his wife's decision.
