- James has been an entertainment journalist for more than a decade, and in that time he has interviewed several actors from "Star Wars" shows, "Game of Thrones" shows, "Critical Role" animated series, and a surprising number of real-life astronauts.
- He profiled "The Boys" star Karl Urban for the print edition of TIME Magazine.
- He moderated panels at The Paley Center for Media and New York Comic Con with the cast and creators of two hit Cartoon Network series.
Experience
James got his start in entertainment journalism in 2014 when he covered music at SPIN Magazine. Even while working for a music publication, he found ways to write about TV, like interviewing the actor behind Hodor on "Game of Thrones" about his DJing. He went on to work as the entertainment news editor for Inverse, a features editor for SYFY WIRE, and has edited Vulture's TV Recaps and Recommendations sections. A prolific freelancer, James has written about TV, movies, and "Dungeons & Dragons" for outlets like TIME, Rolling Stone, A.V. Club, Polygon, Bustle, and The Columbia Journalism Review. His favorite episode of any TV show ever is the Season 3 "Futurama" episode "The Luck of the Fryrish." When he's not writing for TVLine or watching "Bluey" with his daughter, he's looking for something new to watch or brushing up on TV history.
Education
James has bachelor's degrees in studio art and government from Hamilton College and a master's degree with honors from The Columbia Journalism School.
